Serial Groper Strikes Again in Fairfax County

Accusations of sexually related crimes can have a serious impact on a person's life, affecting them legally and their reputation in the community. The unfortunate truth is that in the court of public opinion, people who are accused of sexually based crimes are often considered “guilty until proven innocent.” Anyone facing allegations of sex crimes should contact a Fairfax County criminal defense attorney as soon as possible to start building a defense. You should always have an attorney present when talking to investigators, and you should retain an attorney as soon as possible after you recognize that you may be under suspicion of having committed a sex crime.

Often, people who commit sex crimes show a pattern of sexual misconduct. According to an article at Washingtonpost.com, a man authorities are describing as a “serial groper” has been active in Fairfax County since last September. Law enforcement has been on the lookout for the individual since last September, to no avail. The report indicates that more than 20 assaults have been reported, and all of the women who have been attacked have been walking, jogging, or waiting at bus stops. The most recent incident took place at the HomeGoods store in Kingstowne Center in the mid afternoon. The suspect apparently grabbed the woman from behind and fled, and onlookers unsuccessfully tried to stop him. If connected to the previous attacks, this would be the 24th attack that has been reported. This most recent incident differed from previous incidents in that it took place indoors with other people nearby.

If caught, this individual could face serious legal consequences, and may even be required to register as a sex offender with the state.
